Training in hydraulic, hydrological and CFD modelling

For engineers and technicians who want to understand the methods, master the tools and work more independently on their studies.

Format

Online or in person

Sessions by videoconference or at your premises.

Pace

Short or spread out

A few consecutive days or sessions spread over time.

Audience

Teams or groups

An existing team or participants from different organisations.

Programme

Tailor-made

Built from your actual needs and the real level of the participants.

HEC-RAS 2D

The most requested module. It covers the full construction of a 2D model and the analysis of its results.

2D mesh with breaklines

Content

  • Setting up 2D flow areas and choosing modelling strategies
  • Building and optimising meshes
  • Complex flows: overbank flow, storage areas, multiple branches
  • Integrating hydraulic structures and control devices
  • Linking main channel, floodplain and storage areas
  • Computation settings and numerical stability
  • Analysis of water depths, velocities and flow fields
  • Limits of use and good practice
Module

HEC-RAS 1D

From getting started to advanced use: model building, representation of flows and structures, floodplain handling, computation settings and critical review of results, with particular attention to the limits of models.

Module

HEC-HMS

Setting up rainfall-runoff models, parameterisation, calibration and use. The link between hydrology and hydraulics is covered in practice, notably through HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS coupling.

Module

CFD

A complement to 1D and 2D models for localised or complex flows: principles, choice of models and meshes, boundary conditions, interpretation of results.
